Cougar Smooth White Cardstock – So Good, So Affordable

How many different brands of white cardstock do you have in your stash? It can be difficult to find a multi-purpose white cardstock that is a brighter white, works well with alcohol markers, works great with 3-D embossing folders and allows you to blend smoothly with inks. Forget about it being affordable! Hi, it’s Patty here and I am loving Cougar Smooth White Cardstock so much, I also bought it in the 12 x 12 size for scrapbooking! Today’s project features Cougar Smooth White Cardstock, my favorite affordable, multipurpose white cardstock, that works great for DIY projects, ink blending, coloring mediums and embossing.

Stamping and Embossing on the Cardstock

To get started, I pulled out Altenew’s Delicate Garden set. I have the stamps, stencils and dies for this set. My next step was to stamp all of the florals in the set using Versafine Watermark Ink and my Misti. Thirdly, I heat embossed the stamped images using Love From Lizi Golden Crown Heat Embossing Powder. It’s not as a glossy gold and it is great for fine lines.

Stenciling on the Cardstock

Once I had my images prepped, I put them on my sticky mat and started stenciling. I used my Waffle Flower Brushes and Catherine Pooler Inks. Everything blended together so smoothly! First, for the Peony, I covered the entire floral with Whipped Honey Ink. For the second layer, I used Rose Petals. For the third layer, I used Sparkling Berry. To add just a little more dimension, I grabbed Be Mine Ink and did some free hand ink blending in spots on the peony flower. Finally, to complete the greenery, I used Green Tea and Eucalyptus.

Final Blending on the Cardstock

For the bottom floral, I used the same colors that I used on the peony flower. Because I wanted to create a little bit of color variation between the top and bottom florals, I did not use Whipped Honey as my lightest color, I used Rose Petals. I Brought in Do Si Do as my darkest color. The intention was for deep colors, but not saturated colors.

Embossing on the Cardstock

To create the background panel, I ink blended the panel in Oh Boy ink. I spritzed the panel lightly with water and ran it through my die cutting machine using the Dimensional Diamonds embossing Folder from Spellbinders. The Cougar Smooth White Cardstock did not crack or tear. It blended so smoothly! I am so happy with the results!

Finishing the Card

To finish up the card, first I die cut out my images. Second, I adhered the smaller florals to the background panel. Next, I put some dimensional foam adhesive on the back of the peony and adhered it on top of the smaller florals. I stamped my sentiment and adhered it to the card. For a finishing touch, I colored in the center of the florals using my Ohuhu Gold Glitter marker to color the centers and added gold gems on top.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you consider giving Cougar Smooth White Cardstock a try. Cougar Smooth White Cardstock is an affordable, multipurpose paper that works great for all of your DIY paper projects.
