Hey Chick!
Good morning! Sharon here, Do you love chicks? They aren’t just for Easter but all year round. I have been tasked with making a card with a chick box pattern so here goes!

I am using different colors of Pop Tone Cardstock, Brown Bag Kraft Cardstock and 2 weights of Classic Crest.

First step is to cut the pieces for the chick. Like I said this cutting pattern is for a box but I’m just omitting the sides which gives me a flat image. I am using Classic Crest Neenah Solar white in 80lb, Pop Tone Orange Fizz, Black Licorice and Wild Cherry. I have also decided to cut the top layer in Lemon Drop instead of leaving it white.

To give the chick some dimension, each layer needs to be adhered with foam tape so it’s not totally flat.

Starting with the solid white layer, add the next white layer, then orange, and finally yellow. Because the yellow has a small aperture cut into it when added over the orange is looks like a beak. The black ovals are the eyes and of course the red is the comb. There are orange feet too. I am using wet glue to stick the eyes and comb in place.
Putting the chick to one side we’ll move on to the card. I do have this Fabulous Chicks stamp and die set from Diamond Press. It is great for making your own pattern papers.

Just a few of the stamps randomly stamped on some Brown Bag Kraft Cardstock give a good background.

The intention was to add a sentiment to the middle of the chick but we can do this by adding sentiments to the pattern paper and so something different for the chick.
Die cut the hen house from the Kraft cardstock three times and then layer them on top of each other with foam tape. This is to bring them the same height as the outer layer of the chick. The door way gets cut away as you cut the house. Stamp one of the chicks stamps and color it. I am using glaze pens as the color stays true on colored cardstock.

Add both of these to the center of the chick, in hindsight you could also have made this into a shaker!

Make a 5×7 card base from Classic Crest Solar White 110lb and center your Kraft cardstock on to this. Then finally add your chick.

Isn’t he just the cutest? He will need a box as the wings won’t fit in a standard A7 envelope.
