Good Luck!

Hello! Melissa here and this is my first post on the design team. I am so happy to be here and to share this super cute card with you. So, let’s gather some supplies and get ready to have some fun.

I used Green Curry, Neenah Natural Ivory and Neenah Solar White card stocks. Other supplies needed:

  • Embossing ink
  • Embossing powder in gold and black
  • Clover die cut
  • Sewing machine
  • Sentiment stamp
  • Glue

Let’s make the card.

Firstly, cover a piece of white card stock with your favorite embossing ink and gold embossing powder. My personal favorite is from Brutus Monroe clear ink and Gilded embossing powder. Once completely covered, you will heat this and then allow to cool before die cutting. You certainly can do a couple of coats to make a smoother finish.

Next you want to die cut clovers from the gold paper you made and the Green Curry card stock. Green Curry is a textured, pearlized card stock which gives this card some subtle shimmer. Let me take a moment to explain, when die cutting the embossed piece, the powder is thick and may not require a lot of pressure to die cut or it may make the open space of the die more prominent as you can see in my clovers in the photo above. Okay, moving on to the next step….

Now let’s get ready to put the focal image together.

Firstly, cut a panel of Green Curry to 4″ x 5.25″ and secondly cut a piece of Natural Ivory card stock. The size is really up to you but mine measures 3.5″ x 3.75″. Adhere ivory panel to green panel only placing your glue to the right and left outer edges. You don’t want your sewing needle to encounter adhesive. You want to line up your clovers and adhere only slightly on the outer most edges as well.

Let’s do some sewing! I have a Janome sewing machine that is a craft machine, not a serious “we’re making clothes and quilts” kind of sewing machine. Pick your thread, I used black thread with a zig zag stitch.

Putting it all together.

  1. Cut a base at 5.5 x 8.25 and score at 4.25 to make an A2 card base.
  2. Adhere the panels that have the clovers to base.
  3. Now you’ll want to add your sentiment.

At this point, you’ve done so much work, use a stamping platform to add your sentiment. I embossed mine using black embossing powder.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it inspires you to create something fun or to dust off your sewing machine like I did. If you’d like to see more of my cards and projects please visit my Instagram.
