Sweet On You!: Scrapbook Layout with a Shaker Element

Hi Y’all! Misty ( @mommyofkidz) here with you today from scorching South Texas. And I have a sweet scrapbook layout with a shaker element to share with you! With the temperatures still soaring to 105 and higher down here, it is too hot to move – much less do anything outdoors.

Needless to say, the local ice cream shops have become the local “Hot Spots”! Business is booming for them! I honestly never thought I would be “Ice cream Shop Hopping,” but it has become my favorite thing to do!

My husband can eat his weight in ice cream…and he is a BIG guy y’all! LOL So, of course, he is ALL FOR trying out all the hidden little ice cream shops in our area! We are now on a mission to find THE BEST of the BEST in flavor, appearance, and of course…CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Being an avid scrapbooker, of course, I decided to document our adventures! The layout that I am sharing today is from our FAVORITE shop that we have found. (SO FAR) The best part is…it is the closest one to us!

The BEST of the BEST:

I didn’t want to just make a boring layout to capture such FUN memories! NOPE! I wanted POP and PIZAZZ!

So, I decided to make an ice cream cone shaker complete with sequins, sparkles, and a cherry on top! I knew that in order to document the BEST, I had to create the BEST. That, of course, meant that I had to start with the BEST. Therefore, I reached for my trusty CutCardStock and grabbed all the colors I would need for my triple layer ice cream cone.

PopTone RAZZLEBERRY and DCS Canvas Textured Pink Tutu were the first two that I grabbed. Next, the vanilla scoop represented by Royal Sundance Linen 80 lb. Ivory and the waffle cone was none other than DCS Smooth Sand Castle Tan.

Of course, no triple decker cone is complete without chocolate! PopTone Hot Fudge was perfect for my scoop of chocolatey goodness!

Shake Shake Shake!

Once I had my colors gathered, I began cutting my cut file using Cougar White Heavy 160lb cardstock and DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White cardstock.

Next, I started adding the layers to create my fun shaker…making sure to ink the DCS Smooth Sand Castle Tan to add more of the coloring of a waffle cone. I couldn’t forget the acetate, sequins, and sparkles!

Also, no waffle cone masterpiece is complete until you add the Cherry on top!

Sticking it Down

Oh, how I LOVED my little shaker! It is absolutely adorable! In fact, it is SO cute that I almost didn’t finish what I had set out to do!

Rather than completing a layout, I considered making it into a super cute slimline card. However, we all know that cards and I do NOT get along!

So, on to the layout it went. It was absolutely PERFECT! Once the shaker cone was glued in place, I cut out the word “Sweet” using DCS Red Glitter Heavyweight Cardstock.

With the addition of a few more elements, my layout was complete.

The best part of using about 8 or 9 different colors/styles of CutCardStock paper was that a LOT of it is on sale right now! You can check out all the great monthly specials RIGHT HERE. These specials change regularly, so be sure to come back and see what is next!

Thank you all for stopping by today. I hope I have inspired you in some way. Whether it be to create a fun scrapbook layout with a shaker element or to go Ice Cream Shop Hopping with your “Sweetie,” I hope have lots of fun doing it!

Create those memories with your loved ones…but don’t forget to preserve your precious memories!
