Wrap up Christmas with your die cuts!

Merry Christmas everyone! Today is all about spending time with family and enjoying a relaxing day together. If you find yourself with a last minute need to wrap a gift for someone unexpectedly, I am here with a 5 minutes or less project idea today so you can get back to celebrating. My philosophy is to “use what you have” so if you have circle die cuts and some CutCardStock papers, let’s get this party started!

I have 2 project ideas for you for a last minute gift-wrapping emergency. First up is the belly band/tag idea for gift giving that will give the illusion that you were definitely expecting that last minute guest! 🙂

My second idea is a simple gift card holder, just in case you needed one more unique way to give someone a gift card this season. Take a look below!

Personalized Belly Band or Tag

Do you need a unique way to personalize a box or bag? Try this idea – cut out a series of nested circles with your favorite colors of CutCardStock.

For my box, I’m using the DCS Black Glitter and Pop Tone Wild Cherry. Next, I’m taking some letter dies from my stash and cutting letters with Basis White. and Pop Tone Limeade. If you have an electric die cutting machine, this is another way to cut letters OR use stamps or even handwriting if you prefer!

Next, I’m using a “slit” punch on the bigger circles to create an opening for my ribbon to slide through. I like this because it keeps my ribbon flat, but you can use any shape punch you have. Slide the ribbon through each of the bottom Black Glitter circles.

The smaller Pop Tone Wild Cherry circles are secured with pop dots on the sides so the ribbon will slide through. If you’re using glitter paper like me, I recommend adding a dot of glue for extra security. The die cut letters are adhered to each smaller circle, and the ribbon is taped to the back of the box.

Here’s an example of a tag idea too. For these colors, I’m using Mirrisparkle Green Glitter and Amaranth Pink. Tie the top ribbon to the bag with an extra bow and you are ready to “gift!”

Gift Card Holder

Now, taking your circle die cuts, here’s an easy way to create a visually fun gift card holder! I’m using 3.25″ circle die cuts with this project. Cut 4 of these in any colors you choose. I’m using Pop Tone Wild Cherry, Basis White. for one, and Pop Tone Limeade with Basis White. for the other.

Fold each circle in half, and burnish the edges for a nice, crisp fold. Then, take 2 circles and match them up at the corner of the fold, gluing down one side. I did lay a 90 degree square to the inside corner just to make sure my angle was set up correctly; otherwise, your circles may get crooked!

Next, do the same with circles 3 and 4, making sure to place them in the same overlapped pattern. The final circle will overlap on the top, and you will tuck the bottom of that underneath the first circle. Glue all these together.

Before folding it up, you can add a square to write a message inside if you’d like! Fold it up by overlapping each panel top over bottom. It comes together very easily! Add twine and any other decoration (like sleigh bells) as you have them.

My hope is that you spend time relaxing today and for the remainder of 2023. I also wish all of the CutCardStock followers a moment of peace and comfort in the new year too. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and see you in the new year!
