Vintage Book Treat Box

Hello CutCardStock friends, Birgit here with you today. I have an affinity for anything vintage, so I’m happy to be posting this vintage inspired project with you today as my first project with the CutCardStock design team.

Today’s project uses minimal basic supplies, and it’s a great project to start off with. Let me show you how this came together.

Preparation:

The base of the book is cut from 100# Neenah Environment Desert Storm cardstock. This cardstock is a great weight for treat boxes and other 3D type projects as it is very sturdy. The book die set is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To begin with, I cut the book dies from 100# Environment Desert Storm cardstock and proceeded to cut three small strips from the leftover scraps. Next, I added distress ink along all the outside edges of the cut pieces. I glued the inside of the box together using Tombow Mono Multi Purpose Liquid Glue.

The small strips of paper act as book binders for the spine of the book. It’s already getting a vintage look!

Assembly:

I covered the inside covers with pretty, vintage scrapbook papers and added more distress ink to the edges.

For the cover, I embossed a piece of 100# Neenah Environment Desert Storm cardstock and rubbed over the embossed design using the distress ink.

To make the medallion, I cut a piece of Antique Gold Stardream Metallic cardstock using a circle die. I applied a vellum sticker to a piece of 80# Cougar Natural cardstock and cut it using a slightly smaller circle die. The two circles were then glued together to complete the medallion. On a side note, I think the Antique Gold is the perfect color for vintage style crafts!

To make the label, I die cut a label from DCS Discount Card Stock: Red Pepper and Cougar Natural cardstock. I stamped the top label and sponged distress ink around the edges. Once that was done, I glued the labels together and attached them to the front of the box.

Finished Product:

Once the box was complete, I attached a vintage button to cover a magnet closure box.

Here you can see the magnetic closure and the box filled with sweet little treats!
