A Spooky-Sweet Halloween Card

It’s that time of year when the air gets crisp, the leaves begin to change, and all things spooky come to life. Mary here and I am capturing that Halloween spirit with a fun and festive card design, perfect for sending a sweet scare to friends and family!

Crafting the Sweetness: The Caramel Apple

The star of the show is definitely the caramel apple from The Greetery. I love how it combines a fun, Fall treat with a touch of creepiness, thanks to the little spider from Gina Marie Designs. To create the apple, I used Galax, Sandcastle, and Lessebo Pitch Black card stock. Then, I ink blended the edges using Vintage Photo and Peeled Paint Distess Ink. Next, I adhered Nutty Bits from The Greetery, to the caramel, making it look delicious (but beware of that spider!).

Webs and Words

Also, what’s Halloween without a few spider webs? I used the Cute Cobweb die from Lawn Fawn as accents in the corners. These are cut from Crystal Stardream Metallic card stock. Don’t you love how they pop off the black background? The bold “Trick or Treat” sentiment from LDRS adds a playful touch, especially with the Lessebo Brick Orange shadow layer. I die cut the words in black and then misted with Brushed Pewter Mica Spray.

Bringing the Gingham

Then, I couldn’t resist adding a bit of gingham. The gingham bow on the apple gives the card a warm, inviting touch, contrasting with the spooky theme. A gingham strip was added to the edge to tie the whole look together.

Putting it All Together

Once I had all of the elements ready, I got to assembling. I adhered the caramel apple, adding some foam tape to the bow for dimension and positioned the webs in opposite corners to frame it. I adhered the sentiment and popped up the apple with foam tape. To finish, I glued it to a A2 card base.

Balancing of spooky and sweet, this Halloween card is sure to bring smiles (and maybe a few shivers!) to whoever receives it. Don’t forget to check out all of the amazing card stock options for your holiday crafting from Cut Card Stock.
