This Boy Dog Layout
Happy Friday, CutCardStock friends! Cassie here with you today. I am looking forward to the upcoming weekend so that I can get some much needed scrapbooking time. I work at a middle school and went back to work at the end of last month. This time of year is always super busy and I quickly start missing my creative outlet.
I decided to create a more masculine page this time, so thought this happy pup picture would be perfect. He was super happy to see us after we were on vacation for a few days, but don’t worry, he had a nice visit with his Nana. Let’s just say he had an endless supply of treats for those days!
Getting Started

I first grabbed a piece of the DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White cardstock to use as my main background. I then grabbed three dark masculine colors for my background. I used: DCS Textured Indigo Blue cardstock, DCS Canvas Textured Bonsai Green cardstock and Lessebo Coffee Bean cardstock. I also used DCS Red Pepper cardstock for my embellishments.

I decided to cut the blue, green and brown cardstock into 1” strips and to create a faux brick style background. After I glued all my strips down I also added a hand doodled line around each “brick”. For some added texture, I added some white machine stitching down each row of cardstock.

Creating Title and Embellishments
To create my title I used a new cut file from Peartree Cutfiles. I cut it from Wedding Cake White cardstock and inked it with prize ribbon and faded jeans distress oxide inks. It was at this point that I decided that I wanted to create a second white layer behind the title. So I created an off-set in my Silhouette Studio software and cut the new layer from Wedding Cake White cardstock.

After I started putting my page together I wanted to add some pops of red. I got out the Elle’s Studio Outline Stars metal dies and used my Sizzix Big Shot to cut the stars from the DCS Red Pepper cardstock.

Finishing the Page

With my background, title and embellishments ready, it was now time for me to finish up this layout. I added a circle piece of patterned paper with a distress edge to the center of the background. I machine stitched around the circle to continue the texture from the background. Next, it was time to add my photo and the title to the circle. As a final touch I added the stars, a date label and a couple of other stickers.

I really hope that you enjoyed this masculine dog layout. Thanks for joining me today!
