First Birthday Layout
Minnie & Daisy are the perfect birthday theme for a first birthday party especially when your name is Daisy! I created this fun layout by layering the Wedding Cake and Jet Stream 12×12 cardstock for the base to coordinate with a Magical Birthday collection from Echo Park.
Before I put the layout together, I used my Cricut and some colorful cardstock to create a miniature banner to mimic the one used for her highchair decor. The cardstock used are Lemondrop and Cotton Candy Pop Tone and Metallic Black from the Curious Metallic pack. These cardstocks cut beautifully with my Cricut using the default pressure for the Pop Tone cardstock but I did have to cut the Metallic Black cardstock twice since it’s thicker than the others.

After I cut the white mats for the Mickey ears, I decided to use the 12×12 white Wedding Dress cardstock as a base for the Jet Stream piece. I also decided to gut the middle since I didn’t want to waste that gorgeous white cardstock. To do that, you cut out a square in the inside of the piece. I always use 1.5″ as the border. This is a great idea when you have two thick pieces of cardstock and you want to cut down the thickness or when you don’t want to waste the bottom layer piece.

I cut the Jet Stream cardstock down to 11.5″ square and then centered it on the Wedding Cake 12×12 piece.

This paper is so beautiful! It has a shimmery/pearlized finish and it coordinated perfectly with the patterned paper I used!

With the exception of some patterned paper strips, I didn’t add much to the layout as far as embellishments. I hand drew the banner “string” and bows and added a lot of splatter and sequins!
Isn’t it adorable?! I love to focus on the photos when I scrapbook but of course, the layout has to be pretty too!
This is my first Design Team submission and I hope to inspire you to pull out your photos and scrapbook them!
