Candy bar sliders that are cute as can “bee”

When fall comes around, my work team meets together and attends our national meeting. I usually write a note to each person on my team, including messages of encouragement. Sometimes I share a key characteristic about them for what they bring to the team. This year, I wanted to include a special handmade item and I found these un-bee-lievable candy bars! I’ve made candy bar sliders!

Hi all, it’s Maureen with you again today. The candy I found has encouraging words printed on the side. The colors from these candies inspired my project this month. These candy bar sliders will be all the “buzz” around your office, church or school. Let me get into how I made them.

Start with a 4″ by 4.5″ piece of cardstock for each slider you’re making. The colors I’ve chosen are Lessebo Sunset Orange and Discount Aqua. I liked the vibrant lettering on the candy bar, and of course I can count on CutCardStock to come through with a matching color!

Score these on the long side at 1.25″, 1.75″, 3″ and 3.25″. Fold these around the snack size Hershey bar to make sure of a good fit. Use different measurements for the size of candy you’re using.

Next, take the pieces of Lessebo Sunset Orange and Discount Aqua and cut a wavy border on one of the short edges. I used a stitched wavy border die but you could also use an edging scissors instead.

Your next step is to trim a patterned paper strip to 4″ by 1.25″ and adhere it to the untrimmed edge of your cardstock. Fold on the score lines until the wavy edge overlaps the pattern, and glue in place. You should have a pattern peeking out from underneath.

Then, die cut some letters in both Astrobright Eclipse Black and Classic Crest Solar White. Glue these on the front wavy panel and add some stitch lines with a fine line pen to look like the path from a bee.

To add the candy slider, adhere a small circle die cut or punched circle in both the Sunset Orange and Aqua to the end of the candy bar. I am using double sided tape for this. I’ve also added an Eclipse Black die cut bee to the circle. This becomes the pull tab for your candy!

This project is un-bee-lievably easy! You can make many of them in a short time and hand them out to teachers, friends or kids. When they go to eat the candy, they also get a bit of encouragement too!

To sum up, what would you add to this project? I’d love to hear about your ideas and variations in the comments below. Take care until next time!
