Wedding Gift Bag and Tag Set

Do you ever find yourself scrambling last minute for items like gift bags, especially for big events? It isn’t often I get to attend events like a wedding, so when I do, I don’t have wrapping paper readily on hand and I want to have something look special. I just hate to run out last minute and pay a lot of money for gift wrap. With this project, I wanted to show how easy it is to take a simple item you’d find at a dollar store or have around your house, and turn it into something special. No running around necessary – if you’re a crafter, that is!

This particular wedding I wanted to match the colors of the bridal party, so I chose the Classic Crest Solar White, the Stardream Metallic Aquamarine and the Curious Metallic White Silver paper by CutCardStock. For the shapes, I used dies from sets by Stamps of Life and Queen and Co. but you could choose a multitude of other shapes and fonts available in SVG files and Cricut Design Space, depending on what you have at home. Can you envision doing this project with doves or butterflies, for example?

To decorate the bag, I used a 3″ wide strip of Stardream Metallic Aquamarine and cut to slightly less than the length of the bag. This project deserves a sturdy tacky glue so it doesn’t fall off – and this paper handles the glue well, doesn’t bleed and stays really beautiful in the light. With a floral heart die, I cut 5 shapes in Classic Crest Solar White and lined them up evenly down the paper strip. On the 4th heart from the bottom, I added a border heart in Curious Metallic White Silver behind it for additional dimension. Once everything was glued down, I switched to a clear glue for a strip of knit lace ribbon on the edge of the Stardream Metallic Aquamarine paper.

Now, for the tag – I punched the top of a strip of Classic Crest Solar White and Stardream Metallic Aquamarine with a tag punch topper. Using the same border heart as before, I die cut the heart shape out of the Stardream Metallic Aquamarine paper, then laid it over top of the Classic Crest Solar White tag. Taking the floral heart die again, I cut a Curious Metallic White Silver shape and glued it in the middle. The word “couple” is cut from a border die in the Curious Metallic White Silver and the phrase in Classic Crest Solar White and is glued to the bottom of the front tag. I stamped a saying above to complete the phrase.

Both the bag and the tag are embellished with a few iridescent gems and a blue chiffon ribbon tied to the top of the bag. The tag is layered but not glued down so I can write a message underneath and the couple can read it privately later on. The linen look of the Classic Crest Solar White is a perfect wedding choice and I’m so thrilled with how it blends with any of the CutCardStock paper colors. Don’t miss the sale on it this month – it is a must have for any paper crafter! Comment below and tell me what you thought of this project. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
