My ForEver Valentine Layout

Hello and TGIF! Happy Friday to y’all! Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here with you today to share a new layout. Since this is my first post for February, I just HAD to do a layout featuring my FOREVER Valentine! I am so very much in love with my husband, and I love shouting it from the rooftops! It just so happens that the February Special over at the Cut CardStock Store is on the pink and red cardstock. It is PERFECT for any and all projects this month!

I began with selecting my cardstock that I knew I wanted to use. Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz, Stardream Metallic Mars, DCS Pearlized Strawberry Cream Pink, and DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White were my choices for this project. With all this red, pink, and white, I wanted as much love spilling out onto this layout as possible! After gathering my paper, I set my Cricut Maker up to make the cuts that I wanted. I did a search in Cricut Design Space for “Mini Envelope Template” and found the perfect one. I also found some hearts that captured my fancy and I added those into the mix. You can never have enough LOVE, right!?

I cut this three times…once in the Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz, once in the Stardream Metallic Mars, and once in Curious Metallic Pink Quartz. Yes, I had all those hearts in those colors also! Once I completed those cuts, I used the DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White to cut a few berries and leaves. I assumed that I would want to include a bit of foliage…and I was right!

Some Assembly Required

As with any DIY paper craft project, there was “some assembly required”. As I assembled my envelopes to prepare them for my layout, I also started adding in embellishments. I used the January kit from My Creative Scrapbook that featured some pretty pink Prima goodies! It was the absolute perfect complimentary piece to this layout that I was hoping to design. Using the image in my head as a guide, I created a cluster using the envelopes, some foliage, some hearts, and a few pieces of ephemera. As much as I LOVED the Stardream Metallic Mars red envelope, I ended up omitting it because it overpowered all of the softer colors. I made up for it with lots and lots of the red hearts, though!!

Once this part was complete, I began building my layout and adding in the photos. I was so pleased with the way it all came together! A white gel pen added the perfect faux stitching to the red hearts and Nuvo Drops added in some texture. Before I secured the envelope cluster down, I used a stencil and heavy white gesso for background texture. Y’all…I fell in love with how this came out. However, I have to say…OMGoodness…those red hearts are EVERYTHING! They were the perfect addition to this FOR SURE! The Stardream Metallic Mars just POPS off the page!
