Santa, I Can Explain!

Hey there, y’all! Misty here today sharing a fun and whimsical layout with you. First, I have a Question… Is it too soon to put up a Christmas Tree and watch Cheesy Christmas Movies on Hallmark?
Asking for a friend! HA HA!!
I am absolutely thrilled that Christmas time is here! I know…Halloween was only three days ago…But there are only 52 more days until Christmas!
With that in mind, I have already cleared my desk of ALL things fall and Halloween, and I have moved on the the FUN stuff!!

For my layout, I have used a very minimal amount of cardstock and embellishments, and zero mixed media. This is VERY different for me, but I wanted to create an EASY layout that can be completed fairly quickly. Nobody has a lot of extra time to spare during the holidays, but this layout only took me about 20 minutes to put together after cutting all of my materials. My goal was for you all to see that you can still make time for yourself during the holidays and keep up with your scrapbooks!

Gathering My Materials

I knew that my layout was going to feature red, green, and white…you guess it…Christmas Colors! I just didn’t know which shades. When I pulled out my greens, I knew immediately that I was going to do a Grinch layout! The rest just followed suite. As always, I pulled my papers and began cutting out my parts and pieces and putting them together.
I used:
PopTone Gum Drop Green, PopTone Wild Cherry, PopTone Lemon Drop
Stardream Metallic Onyx
Silk Glitter Opulent Opal
CTI Glama Natural Translucent (Vellum) CLEAR 48lb

I decided that I didn’t like it on the white background, so I started thumbing through my patterned papers and came across last the Simple Stories Christmas Collection from last year, and that was the winner! Putting everything onto the black background just made everything POP!!! Those snowflakes were great, so I pulled out my handy dandy old manual snowflake punch and Silk Glitter Opulent Opal and set to work cutting out a few to pop off that background. My Title came from Peartree Cutfiles, and I cut that out in the CTI Glama Natural Translucent (Vellum) CLEAR 48lb.

Finishing It Up

Once I got everything arranged, I just had to stick it all down, and I added in a few final touches. Hand drawn stitching, a bit of distressing around the border, and some baker’s twine were just the right amount of “extras” without making it overwhelming. Again, my goal was to keep it simple, yet still pack a PUNCH!
I think I managed to achieve my goal! What do you think?

Thank you all for stopping by today! Even though this was a Christmas layout in November, I hope that I have inspired you in some way. If so, why don’t you head on over to the CutCardStock Store and start picking your perfect reds and greens for your holiday crafts!
