I love making Christmas cards, because it is the perfect time to add a little shimmer! I combined a 3D embossing folder with some shimmer and regular cardstocks to create this clean and simple card. This was a quick card to put together, but makes an impact with all that texture and shimmer.

I used Stardream Metallic Mars, Curious Metallic Ice Gold, and Pop-Tone Gumdrop Green cardstocks.

I used a swirly snowflake 3D embossing folder to create texture on all 3 of the panels. You don’t have to use a snowflake or Christmas themed embossing folder for this, any type of design would work.

Look how beautiful these panels are!! I love how striking the texture is on the Metallic Cardstocks.

The next thing is to cut these panels into strips. I chose to do 1/2″ strips, and to keep them all the same width, but you can choose whatever width you’d like, and its fun sometimes to vary the widths and have an assortment of strips.

We need to add these strip to a piece of paper that we are going to die cut, so I use a thin piece of paper for this. I have these large post-its that are perfect. And I just add a bunch of adhesive to the front. I find that easier than putting adhesive on each strip that you lay down.

I like putting the strips at a diagonal. I used a stitched rectangle die to cut this out – this panel was smaller than A2 sized. If you want to make an A2 sized panel with your strips and put them on a diagonal, you will have to start with a larger than A2 size to cut your strips.

Ahh – I love the result! I did not worry about lining up the patterns when reassembling the strips, because I wasn’t aiming to get the original embossed pattern back. I like the way it looks with just random placement of the strips.

All that I did to finish this card was to pop the striped panel up with foam tape and added a sentiment label with the sentiment white embossed on the Mars metallic cardstock.
