Flamingo Floaty Friendship Card

Hello, friends! Do you remember being a kid when school let out and then you had that long stretch of summer ahead of you? I hope it brings back fond memories for you. Toni here with you today sharing a cheery flamingo floaty friendship card just perfect for summer greetings.

What summer scene is complete without some water, right? To create the card front, I took a piece of Pop Tone Sno Cone cardstock and sponged it with a wavy stencil and blue ink.

Observe how I left the bottom portion of the panel blank so I could sponge it with a sand-colored ink to represent the shore.

The floaty

For the floaty, I opted for a classic flamingo cut from Lessebo Blossom Pink, Pop Tone Bubble Gum, Pop Tone Black Licorice and Cougar White cardstocks. As I often do, I applied a bit of ink to the flamingo for shading and depth.

Of course, no floaty is complete without a passenger. Here, I colored up an adorable goat using Copics. Just imagine it bouncing about in exuberance. So cute!

The sentiment

Below, you can see that I take the banner die that I’ll be using and flip it. Consequently, with the top facing up, I know that the clear sentiment will perfectly align with the diecut once shaped.

After all, the only way it wouldn’t align is user error and that never ever happens to me. Fortunately, the diecut “smiles,” cut from Royal Sundance Kraft cardstock, didn’t rely on my alignment skills!

By the way, you may have noticed that I used two tones of blue to ink the sentiment. Since I applied the lighter shade first then the darker along the bottom edge, I didn’t worry about inkpad contamination as the colors are close enough.

Finally, I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the sunglasses then applied white pigment ink highlights.
