Vellum Window Pop Up Card

Create the Pop Up Card Window

Cougar White 100 lb. cardstock is perfect to create pop up window cards! The vellum allows light to brighten the base!

Select a rectangle die that will create a good size window on the card front. Use a piece of 5.5 x 8.5 white cardstock scored in the center. Fold in half and center the rectangle die. Die cut the window through both layers. You may need to run back and forth a few times.

The vellum window is created by trimming a piece of 105 lb. Translucent Vellum to A2 card size. Use the Ribbon Waves Embossing folder from Altenew to emboss the vellum and run a green ink pad on top to highlight the waves. Set this piece aside.

Create the Pop-Up Card Base

Using a piece of 100 lb. Cougar White cardstock, trim a full sheet to 5.5 x 7.25 inches.

Score the base at 1/2, 1.0, and 1.5 inches on both short sides. This will leave a 4.5-inch for the center. Fold and score so the top 1/2 inch is facing in.

Assemble the Base

Run a line of glue around the inside of the window and insert the vellum piece, lining it up close to the middle fold. Run an additional line around the top frame and close the window. Add glue to the long edges of the window and attach to the folded section on the card base.

Create the Flowers

Using Altenew’s Craft A Flower Tulip Full Bloom Die to die cut the floral pieces. DCS Scottish Highland is perfect for the leaves and stems. DCS Red Wagon and DCS Red Pepper cardstocks are great reds for the blooms. Once the petals are cut out, use a blending tool and add ink blending with light yellow ink to the lower section of the petals. Glue together as instructed in the guide with the die set.

Assemble the Card

Arrange the stems, leaves, and blooms on top of the vellum and glue in place. Die cut the Essential Sentiment using black cardstock and layer on white cardstock for dimension.

Trim a piece of white cardstock to 3.5 x 10 inches, score in the center, and add to the back of the card panel for your message.
