“Vitamin Sea” Layout
Howdy, Y’all! Misty (@mommyofkidz) here with you today sharing a fun summer layout featuring some “beachy blues” from the CutCardStock Store. With the heat as bad as it has been here in Texas, it was almost impossible to get everyone to agree to go outside for any sort of activity. I was stunned that I was able to convince all these grown kids of mine to go to the beach for a family day! I made sure to capture tons of photos of the ONE and only outing this summer!! LOL
When it was time to pull the pictures out of my phone and put them into an album, of course I went straight for my handy dandy cardstock stash. I wanted to keep the layout simple to keep the focus on the photos, so I decided to keep the colors simple, too. After much deliberation, I settled on just 5 colors for my beach scene to showcase my cherished photos.
Feelin’ Beachy
To achieve the beachy vibe that I wanted, I chose colors that enhanced that. I started with my foundation of DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White Cardstock. Of course, there is sand on the beach! So I reached for DCS Canvas Textured Ginger Snap Cardstock. With the waves in mind, I selected DCS Wild Blueberry Navy Cardstock and DCS Pearlized Textured Jet Stream Blue Cardstock.
DCS Canvas Textured Ginger Snap Cardstock. To finish off my beach scene, I grabbed the DCS Silver Glitter Cardstock for the touch of sparkle that I knew it would need.
Finishing it Up
Still trying to keep it simple, I began tearing and layering my papers. I did a bit of water coloring and used the DCS Canvas Textured Ginger Snap Cardstock and my Cricut Machine to cut out a fishing net to layer behind my photos. Once I had the base for my layout, Adding the photos was simple!
Once the photos and embellishments were added, all I needed was to journal. I decided on a few handwritten journaling strips cut from DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White Cardstock. This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE White cardstock that I have ever used. It is easy to see why once you write on it with a felt tip pen and it doesn’t bleed! LOVE!!!
