Is there a specific type of crafting material that you really enjoy working with? For me, it’s vellum! I love how it adds almost a mysterious feel to my projects…like there’s a special surprise waiting to be discovered. Here’s a fun idea you can make for Valentine’s Day using vellum and your sewing machine!
- Basis white cardstock
- Red cardstock
- Foam adhesive squares
- Tombow adhesive
- heart die cuts or die cutting machine
- sewing machine
To begin, I used my Silhouette CAMEO die cutting machine to cut out a bunch of hearts from red cardstock, as well as the phrase “I love you” from the same red cardstock. I also cut out a fun envelope shape out of vellum. (Envelope cut file found from the Silhouette Design Store.)
Next, I used my Tombow adhesive and glued the tabs together to create my envelope. I love this adhesive for paper because it dries very quickly!
Then I added some foam adhesive squares to the back of my letters and attached them to the top of the card.
Here’s the fun part! I turned on my sewing machine and stitched all the red hearts together to make a little heart garland!
Using a couple more foam squares, I attached the top heart to the card, then let the rest of the heart garland hang down.
Now gather the garland up and slip the card into the vellum envelope and you have a fun, unique Valentine’s Day card!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you celebrate the day of love! Be sure to check out the Astrobright cardstock that’s on sale this month and make some great creations!
