How to Create a Striking But Simple Birthday Card!

Hello, CutCardStock fans! Leslie here, and thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! Who doesn’t need birthday cards in their stash… pretty fairy-themed birthday cards?! I have a child in mind, but I also know a few adults who think fairies are awesome, lol! The simple birthday card I’m sharing with you today features gorgeous Stardream Metallic cardstock that’s on sale this month paired with Classic Crest and Pop-Tone cardstock! The black really pops against these shimmery colors!

How to Create a Striking but Simple Birthday Card!

Instructions

*Cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock along with an inside layering panel from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock.
*Cut a front and inside layering panel along with a narrow embellishing strip and two sentiment die cuts from Pop-Tone Black Licorice 65# cardstock. I ended up not using the embellishing strip – I used a strip of washi tape, which you’ll read about below.
*Cut a front layering panel along with a narrow embellishing strip from Stardream Metallic Amethyst 105# cardstock.
*Cut a 3/4″ strip and a narrow embellishing strip from Metallic Lagoon 105# cardstock, along with two 1/4″ strips and a 1/8″ embellishing strip from Stardream Metallic Aquamarine 105# cardstock.
*Grab a roll of coordinating skinny washi tape and a couple fairy brads.

*Adhere the Lagoon strip diagonally mid-way down the Amethyst panel and then adhere the two thinner strips of Aquamarine on both sides of the Lagoon strip. Apply two strips of washi tape above and below for a little interest.
*Next, adhere the two die-cut sentiments together, one on top of the other, and then adhere to the front of the panel. Apply the two fairy brads and several tiny iridescent gemstones and then adhere to the black layering panel.
*Then, Adhere the Lagoon, Amethyst, and Aquamarine strips to the left side of the inside panel, then apply a strip of washi tape (or the narrow embellishing strip cut earlier if you wish).
*Stamp the sentiment in black ink, cut with a stitched oval die, and adhere to panel. Adhere the panel to the black layering panel.

*Adhere the completed panels to the front and inside of the card base. Voila – your fairy card is complete! 😉
