Rainbow of Scraps!

When you have a bunch of colored scraps what do you do? Why make a rainbow card! Ok so I have added an extra color from the ROYGBIV colors but who doesn’t love a little pink!

Are you like me and have a draw full of scraps that just grows? I have decided at least once a week I am going to open said draw and craft from it. Today I’m going to show you how to make this cute thank you card.

I keep all my Pop-Tone scraps in plastic folders and today am using the following colors:

To start the card you need a to either cut shapes that will fit together or like I am doing use a die, I think this one is a discontinued Gina Marie Designs one, but there are a number of dies on the market similar.

Start at the top left and cut a shape for colors in the rainbow order: Pink Lemonade, Wild Cherry, Orange Fizz, Lemon Drop, Sour Apple, Berrylicious, Grape Jelly and Grapesicle. cut the main frame of the die from Black Licorice and the center circle from Solar White Classic Crest.

Using a piece of classic Crest Solar White and wet glue adhere the frame in place. Be careful when doing this that you allow the frame to lay flat. I find it easier to cut my white card bigger than the frame and then trim the excess this stops the frame warping if you try and pull it to fit.

Next add your shapes, This is just like building a jigsaw puzzle. All the pieces fit perfectly in the frame.

Glue them in place again with wet glue, unless you want dimension then you could use foam squares. I like to keep these for my center piece – they make it pop from the rest of the frame.

The center piece can hold your sentiment. If you don’t want to do this you can always add a strip sentiment but as I have lots of stamps the right size to fit I’m using the center. Stamp Thank You in VersaFine ink and heat emboss this clear powder. This gives a clean crisp sentiment.

Fasten in place with foam squares. To give more dimension and add detail color match enamel dots and add these to the rainbow shapes.

Using Classic Crest Solar White 110lb make a top folding cardbase from half a sheet. Adhere your topper to this with foam tape for yet more dimension. A tip for making sure you get your topper straight when using foam tape is to add wet glue to the tape, this gives you some wiggle room allowing perfect alignment.

That’s it – a quick and easy card made from all scraps. You could also batch make using this technique but cutting the whole of the die from each of the colors and paper piecing them onto separate cards.

I think the enamel dots just make this card! What embellishments do you like to use?

Thank you for taking time to read and I hope I’ve given you inspiration to use those scraps!
