Let’s Create a Halloween Folio

Looking for a way to preserve some fun Halloween memories? A compact Halloween Folio is the perfect way to do so! Judy here. Follow along with me and I’ll show you how to create one with products from CutCardStock.

The finished folio measures 4¼ x 6¼ x ½ inches, making it easy to tuck onto a bookshelf or display on a desk while still offering plenty of room inside for memories.

Cutting the Cover Piece

Start the project by cutting a piece of Kraft Chipboard .022 to 11 x 7 1/4 inches for the folio cover. Score at 4 1/4, 4 3/4 and 9 inches along the 11 inch side. Score at 1/2 and 6 3/4 inches on the shorter side. Cut away the 1/2 inch score lines down to the 9 inch score line to form tabs for a pocket. Notch the tab portions by cutting from the edge to the score line diagonally.

This piece will form the cover of the folio.

Creating Interactive Pieces

The next pieces will form the interactive parts of the folio.

Cut 2 pieces of Kraft Chipboard measuring 4 1/8 x 6 3/4 inches. Score these at 1/2 and 3 5/8 on the long side. Notch the 1/2 inch ends as above forming tabs.

Cut 1 piece to 3 7/8 x 4 1/4 inches, Score at 1/2 inch on the 3 7/8 inch side.

Cut 1 piece to 4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches. Score at 3 1/4 inches on the longer side.

Decorating the Panels

Next step is to cover each of the Kraft Chipboard panels with Lessebo Brick Orange cardstock and pattern papers from Halloween 6×6 Cardstock Pad.

The solid cardstock panels are cut to 1/4 smaller than each of the chipboard sections. Cut the pattern papers 1/8 smaller than the solid. Adhere the pattern paper pieces to the solid card stock before applying to the folio pieces.

Start with the front and back cover of the folio as seen below.

Cover both sides of each interactive panel.

Putting the Folio Together

Add the interactive panels to the inside front cover by adhering the tabs as seen below.

Adhere decorative pieces to the inside folio cover. These pieces are cut the same way as all the others.

The far right panel with notches will form a pocket by folding to the left. Fold the notches in and adhere.

Finishing the Front

Fold the interactive elements in and you’re ready to decorate the front cover.

First, attach a ribbon on the front, around to the back to hold the folio closed. A strong double sided tape works well for adhering.

Stamp, color and/or die cut elements for decoration.

Adhere and you’re done!
