Snow Globe Gift Tags

Hello and Happy Friday! Oh Wait…Happy Black Friday to you all! With this being the Day after Thanksgiving, it is the “biggest Shopping Day of the year”. What is on your shopping list? Do you join in on the hustle and bustle of the chaos that is Black Friday? Once upon a time I did…years ago when my kiddos were small. I would get up at 3am and sneak out while everyone was still snoozing and stand in long lines like a crazy person! LOL. I was out looking for the new gaming trend for my boys or the cool fashion trend for my girls. Not anymore, however. Now, I prefer to stay at home and avoid all the chaos. Besides, most of what I want can be found right HERE on line!
Today I want to share with you some super cute snow globe gift tags that I created. It all started when I ordered the wrong size clear plastic ball ornaments from Amazon. I needed 3 inch sized spheres, but ordered some that were not even 2 inches across What was I thinking?? They were cheap enough that I decided to keep them and just order the right size-but what was I to do with the smaller ones? After a bit of brainstorming, I figured it out!

Mini Snow Globes

With the tiny plastic domes in hand, I decided to make some snow globe gift tags. Perfect! I began brainstorming and gathering materials. For the base, I pulled out EK Tools Blank DIY Assorted Color Chalk Tags.
For the globe inserts, I chose an assortment of Glitter Card Stock. I prefer the traditional colors of Christmas…red, gold, green, white, silver, gold, et. Therefore, I used DCS Black GLITTER Heavyweight 12×12 Discount Card Stock, CCS Silver 8.5×11 Glitter 74 lb Discount Card Stock, DCS Gold GLITTER Heavyweight 12×12 Discount Card Stock, and Silk GLITTER Opulent Opal 12×12 Card Stock. Of course, you can use any colors that you prefer!
Next, I did a search in my Cricut image base for “snow globes” and it populated with over 8 thousand images. I just sifted through and found a few that appeared to be easy to cut once I shrunk them down to 2 inches wide. Everything in the photo below is cut at 2 inches or less…and will fit inside the plastic domes.

Finding the Fillers

After cutting several 2 inch snow globe inserts, I had to find tiny fillers for these things! I pulled out my stash of Simple Stories Christmas lines and started scanning the papers, tags, stickers, and ephemera for the perfect pieces to stick into the globes. After several minutes of intense search, I found the perfect parts to create at least 3 complete tags!! YAY! Of course that was just to begin with…to see if my brainstorm was even going to work. I gathered the inserts, glitter and sprinkle bits, tiny flowers, twine, ribbon, etc. Anything that was tiny enough to fit into the 2 inch globes was gathered at my desk “just in case”. LOL!! Let the assembly begin!!

Finished Product

Once I had assembled the first tag, it was much easier to find the right elements. The tinier the better, and of course I wanted ALL THE SPARKLE! I used Ranger Glossy Accents glue because it dries quickly and it dries CLEAR. I was using it to affix tiny snowflakes to the inside of the domes, so I did not want glue residue to be obvious. Soon I had created a tag incorporating all 3 colors of base tags from the package of EK Tools Blank DIY Assorted Color Chalk Tags. Once the tags were assembled, I just needed to add the bows! I have a huge assortment of Really Reasonable Ribbon ribbons and twine to choose from, so that was the easy part!

A Trio Of Tags

When everything was complete, I had a trio of tags ready to put on top of my gifts to some of my favorite people. Only problem was…I have not done ANY Christmas shopping yet!! Not even one gift. Yes, I have procrastinated…so you would think I would be out scouting the shelves right now. Instead, I and home in my warm house, wrapped in a blanked, sipping a cup of hot coffee. I will be doing all my shopping right here online…. at the CutCardStock Store. Not that I am giving everyone packages of cardstock. No, I am giving them all handmade gifts…made by me! I will be making Scrapbook pages, gift tags sets, etc. What will you be gifting this holiday season? Will it be homemade? I would love to hear some of your homemade gifting ideas!
