Timeless Birthday ~ Shaped Card

Hello CutCardStock friends. Are you a fan of shaped cards? Birgit here with you today and I certainly am! Today’s card is timeless in design as I’m using hourglass shaped dies to create a beautiful shaped birthday card. Let’s jump right in.

The Supplies:

For today’s project, I used 83# Lessebo Arctic Blue and 80# Classic Crest Solar White cardstocks.

Die Cutting:

To begin with, I cut a piece of 80# Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to measure 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored it at 5 1/2″, leaving me with a top folding A2 size card base. To die cut the hourglass shape, I made sure the fold line was just below the cutting edge of the die. This allows the hourglass shape to open like a traditional top folding card.

I also cut the hourglass frame from 83# Lessebo Arctic Blue and glued it over the top of the Solar White cardstock frame.

Next, I cut two of the larger, inside hourglass shapes from Classic Crest Solar White and the smaller hourglass shape from a pretty floral patterned paper and glued the patterned paper onto the center of the Solar White shape. I glued the second hourglass shape to the inside of the back of the card base.

Decorating the Card Front:

To decorate the card front, I then glued decorative die cuts on using Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

The Finished Card:

I love how this card turned out! The excellent quality of these cardstocks, when built up, made this a sturdy card that will stand on its own.

I truly enjoy using all the quality cardstocks found in the CutCardStock store. They offer a rainbow of colors, and a variety of weights and textures. Mixing and matching cardstock is easy and fun!
