Hugs & Kisses

Hello crafty Friends!

It’s Ceal, here. One of our themes for the month of February is Thinking of You and what better way to let someone know you are thinking of them than to send them paper hugs. My card today is an interactive one and uses… yes you guessed it… Stardream Metallic cardstock.

I used several dies by Concord & 9th with the main one giving it the pop up interactive part. To make this card, I started with a couple sheet of Neenah Classic Solar white. One 110lb for the base and 80lb for the interactive feature. For the interactive feature I used the Pop Up Burst Base dies. This set has the pop up, the banner and the belly band. The hugs, the flowers and the hearts are from the Burst of Hugs. The flower stems and the flower on the front are from the Burst of Blooms.

The colors I used are Azalea and Rose Quartz for the hearts and flowers, Fairway for the stems, Aquamarine for the hugs, banner and belly band and Sapphire.

When you close the card, the hearts indeed show beyond the card base. However because they are on acetate they easily slide inside as you close the card and place the belly band on it. Compared to most interactive dies this one is fairly easy to use. However there is a video over on the Concord & 9th website showing how to put it together.

You could also stamp a greeting on the banner but I couldn’t find my stamp set to do that. I was lucky enough to find the pattern paper I used on the card front. It goes perfectly with the inside message being Hugs.

Summing up, one last thing I wanted to share with you today is this tray that I use when I have a lot of die cut pieces. I found these at Ikea. They are actually lids to storage containers but you can purchase them separately. If you have an Ikea near you they would be great to have on hand.
