Re-Imagining a Halloween Die

How many of us have a frugal side? I have a very frugal streak in me! While I enjoy getting new crafty things, I really enjoy finding new ways to use what I have. Hi, it’s Patty and for today’s card project I will be creating a shaker card and re-imagining a Halloween die.

Supplies

• Dies-Pixi Dust Designs Cauldron Lollipop Holder, Potions Wizard Mug Set, Valentine Grandfather Clock Add-On, Lawn Fawn’s Scalloped Bored die and Waffle Flowers A2 Layers die set
• Inks-Distress Oxide Lumberjack Plaid, Worn Lipstick and Chipped Sapphire, Hero Arts Unicorn White

Getting Started

To start, I cut the cauldron out of Raspberry Ice Cardstock. I only cut out one cauldron.

Next, I trimmed the extra cardstock off at the base of the cauldron. The die set comes with dies from the fire and the handles, so the overall house was not affected. Then, I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide and ink blended around the cauldron and the accessories for the cauldron.

Then, I ink blended around the heart that I cut out using the Grandfather Clock Add-On die set from Pixi Dust Designs using Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide Ink. I used DCS Re-Entry Red Cardstock for the heart. Next, I ink blended around my card panel cut out of Lessebo Amazon Blue Green cardstock. I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink for the card panel.

All of the parts were ready, so I started my Assembly. First, I added the legs and handles to the cauldron. Next, I added my ink blended heart to its white base. The white base is from Neenah Solar White cardstock. I added the cauldron’s lip and the bubbling potion inside the cauldron. To adds little shading, I used Copic Markers. I used RV14, RV19 and RV21.

To create the scalloped border frame, I used Lawn Fawn’s Scalloped Bored die and cut the middle out using Waffle Flowers A2 Layers die set. The border is cut from Poodle Skirt cardstock.

Finishing Up

The steam coming from the cauldron is cut from Lettermark Vellum for the shadow and Poodle Skirt for the inner steam. I adhered the steam to feeder and glued everything to the card panel. Then, I scattered little hearts all over the steam.

I took a panel of Judykins Window Plastic and stamped my sentiment on it using Hero Arts Unicorn White ink. Next, I glued the stamped plastic window to the back of the scalloped border Then, I added strips of foam to the edge of my scalloped border frame and added sequins from Catherine Pooler. I adhered the card panel to the shaker element and added all of that to my card base and my project was complete!
