Is it summer yet? Memory Dex

Hi friends, Melissa here with another fun memory dex to share with you. My project is bright and lemony which brings thoughts of summer to mind. It’s been so cold here in FL, I am ready for it to warm up again. Yes! I am totally obsessed with these little cards and I’m having a blast making them. I’m also sharing a new-to-me technique by using a napkin. Using beautifully printed napkins on your cards is not a new technique, but I had never tried it before and using it on a small project like a memory dex is a good way to get started. So let’s get to it, but first let’s pull our supplies together.

Supplies

  • Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
  • Printed napkin
  • Multi-Medium Matte
  • Stamps and dies – I used Aall & Create

Now we can get crafty!

Creating a Base

The first step is to get the napkin onto a piece of card stock. Neenah Classic Crest is my go-to for everything! It’s a great weight to use for card bases and layering. I love that I can use it in my Eco Tank printer as well as use it with alcohol markers. As I said, my go-to card stock for just about every project I do.

I used a paint brush to apply the Multi Medium Matte onto the card stock. Then I carefully laid the napkin over the white card stock and applied more glue. I am not a patient person when it comes to crafting, so I used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. You can just leave it but that’s just not me!

Set your piece aside to dry. Next we’re going to work on our focal image.

Creating a Focal

Stamp and color your image. Once that’s done, die cut the memory dex and assemble. I lost a couple of pictures, not sure how these got corrupted, but unfortunately, I am not able to show you the steps.

Here you can see how beautifully the napkin piece over Neenah Classic Crest Solar white card stock die cut. I absolutely love the texture that the napkin provides. Using Versa-Mark ink to stamp the “words” image is necessary to make sure the ink stands out on that napkin. Using the hair dryer ensures the ink was set and dry. Then I popped up the little girl on dimensional foam.

This is fun, vibrant and a piece of art that is small and mighty. Thanks for your view!
