“Hey… Miss You” Card

An uplifting and soft card design for a loved one.

Hey Krafty Friends! It’s Tiffani from A Krafting Alley. Today I’m sharing a sweet and uplifting card I made using some beautiful cardstock from CutCardStock.com. Also using the Stitched Cloud Backdrop die from Kat Scrappiness and the Up and Away die and matching stamp set from Concord & 9th.

This project was such a joy to make. The soft colors, fun layers, and a hot air balloon that really pops off the card.

Supplies Used

  • Cardstock from CutCardStock.com
  • Dies & Stamps
    • Stitched Cloud Backdrop – Kat Scrappiness
    • Up and Away Die & Stamp Set – Concord & 9th
  • Other: Scrapbook.com Sky Blue ink
  • blending brush
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • liquid glue, foam tape
  • die cutting machine, score board and a bone folder.

How I Made It

  1. Create the card base
I started by cutting my card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 lb cardstock. Score it down the center with a score board and make a nice fold with my bone folder.
  2. Make the cloud background
Cut a panel of Cougar White 80 lb cardstock. Run it through die cut machine with the Stitched Cloud Backdrop die from Kat Scrappiness.
  3. Assemble the hot air balloon
    • Cut the balloon base from Natural White cardstock.
    • Create the stripes in three colors: Robin’s Egg, Easter Grass, and Candy Hearts. I alternated colors to create a cheerful, pastel balloon.
    • Dolphin cardstock is cut for the basket and pole After that glue them together.
      • Cut the flag (after stamping) and clouds from Cougar White cardstock.
  4. Stamping details
Before cutting the flag, stamp “miss you” onto the Cougar White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Stamp a tiny heart onto the balloon’s basket — such a cute little touch!
  5. Ink blend the sky
Using Scrapbook.com Sky Blue ink blend softly around the edges of the cloud backdrop. This gives the background some depth. In turn, this also gives a sort of glow to the hot air balloon.

Build the Scene

  • I glued the colored balloon stripes onto the balloon base.
  • Layer the sentiment “Hey” using both Black Licorice and Dolphin cardstock on top for a little shadow effect, then glued them together.
  • I added foam tape to the back of the balloon for dimension, arranged the clouds behind it, and adhered everything to the card front.
  • The banner flag goes at the top of the balloon. The “Hey” sentiment goes in the upper left corner.

I’m so happy with how this card turned out! The soft colors and playful design make it perfect for sending a cheerful “miss you” to someone special. The Up and Away set is one of those die/stamp combos that’s just fun to use again and again.

Thanks so much for reading my blog post. I hope you are inspired to create a cheerful Hey card using something from your stash!
