Crocodile Fun Fold

Hi everyone, Happy Monday – I hope you had a great weekend! Are you a fan of puns? I love them, and the cornier the better, lol! Leslie here with you today sharing a tutorial for making a ‘love you just because’ half flap card. This crocodile fun fold really IS fun! And talk about easy peasy… this is one of the easiest cards ever! I started with a 110# Solar White A2 Folded Card Base and also used 80# Solar White for a layering panel. Then, I added Mantis Green, Granny Smith, Scottish Highlands Green, Kale Green, and Silk Glitter 4×6 Red Flash into the mix. The Kale Green is no longer in stock but any of the darker greens would work for this project.

See that diagonal line of little gold dots toward the top left? Those were made with the EK Tools Dual Tip Gold Pen. This is my favorite gold pen because it doesn’t leave that oily-looking rim around whatever you draw or write. There are limited quantities of this pen, and it’s on sale, so grab it while you can!

Create Background

First, using Mantis Green, Granny Smith, Scottish Highlands Green and Kale Green, cut strips in a variety of widths. Using set of strip dies makes this super easy. Three of the four greens are textured so I ran some of the lines in the texture vertically and some horizontally.

Secondly, cut a piece of copy paper and add an adhesive sheet to one side. Pull the backing off the adhesive sheet and apply the strips diagonally in random fashion.

Cut Card Base & Layers

Grab a 110# Solar White A2 Folded Card Base. Decide what size you want the bottom flap to be. Make a single cut from the outside edge to the score line. Adhere the top portion of the flap closed, leaving the smaller ‘half flap’ at the bottom loose.

Next, cut dark green and 80# Solar White layering panels for the inside of the bottom flap.

Add Focal & Sentiments

Stamp the crocodile on 80# Solar White in black ink and color him with alcohol markers.

Additionally cut the crocodile with the coordinating die and layer him on several more die cuts for dimension.

Finally, adhere the crocodile to the flap and stamp the front sentiment just above him in green ink.

Now stamp the inside sentiment in green ink on the 80# Solar White layering panel and adhere it to the dark green panel.

Complete Crocodile Fun Fold

Trim the striped background panel and adhere it to the top portion of the card.

Following this, adhere two layered die cut hearts (cut from Silk Glitter 4×6 Red Flash) to the right of the sentiment.

Embellish the bottom flap with a leftover strip and tiny white buttons. Draw a line of dots with an EK Tools Dual Tip Gold Pen for a little interest.

Glue the inside sentiment panel to the inside of the flap.

Another option for embellishing a busy background is to add additional strips here and there for dimension. I love how this crocodile fun fold turned out!
