Sunshine and Cactus Mini Banner
I recently sent a cheer box to someone buried under snow – just like many of you might be. If you’re craving a little more sunshine in your life, start creating it right in your craft room! Hi, it’s Maureen, and I’m sharing an idea to give your mail (or your decor) a little shine this season.

The banner I’ve created uses the fabulous CutCardStock papers. Lessebo papers work well for this because they are bright and cheery – and don’t forget about all those discount colors too!

I started with Lessebo Sunflower Yellow and Lessebo Sunset Orange, cutting sun shapes with a shadow layer. Next, I cut a few cactus shapes in DCS Canvas Textured Bonzai Green and DCS Granny Smith Apple Green. I’ve also cut hearts in the DCS Amaranth Pink.

I’m using die cuts from my personal stash, but you can also use shapes from an electronic machine. Note: I used the non-textured side of the Bonzai Green paper for my cactus shapes. I love the versatility in that!

Next, I dusted the pieces with ink for dimension. Then, I layered on one piece over another with some foam tape. Note: I’ve alternated dark with light backgrounds for variety.

On the back of each panel I added a small strip of card stock looped in a circle. Glue this to the back and let it set. Then, string twine through each piece.

Adding a spacer between each panel will keep the panels from sliding into each other. I use beads or ribbon.

I plan to make a few more of these to decorate the front of a gift. What would you decorate with this type of project? Check out all the glorious bold and cheery colors at CutCardStock this month – it will warm your heart AND your craft room!
