A Flowery Smile

Hey everyone, Natalie here! I hope you’re having an amazing summer and enjoying some fun in the sun. The weather in North Dakota has been a bit unpredictable, but we’ve still had some beautiful days

My card today is a little fun and funky, a huge flower center point and checkered background. It’s not my usual style but I am here for it! I have used the beautiful Lessebo Bubblegum Pink along with Cougar Heavyweight White Cardstock. CutCardstock offers a variety of pre-cut Cougar White options, including place cards, invitations, and pre-scored card bases. Be sure to check them out.

Let’s take a look at my card.

Creating the card;

I began with a 4¼” x 11″ cardstock base, scored and folded at 5½” for a top-folding card base. I then set out to die-cut all of my pieces. The checkered background is actually a die that I just ordered. It can also be created by cutting out small squares and layering them as I did for the checkered design.

Then it was time to tackle the flower. These are also some flower dies that I had recently purchased. I glued the layers together, bending the edges of each petal upwards. I added the golden center. The sentiment was stamped, then die cut and adhered to the flower. Next, I played around with the placement of the flower. I ultimately positioned the flower toward the top, as shown.

At the bottom of the photo, you can see two more flowers made from Amaranth and Blossom Pink cardstocks. I have so many ideas for different color combinations using both of these dies. I need to make one with two of the pinks, then the third pink being the flower. The options are truly endless. What colors would you like to see me use?

Here is a close-up look at the card. Isn’t that flower awesome! The ink that I used, and matches the Bubblegum Cardstock perfectly, is called Peony, from Simon Says Stamp.
