Fall Leaf Wallhanging

I’m sure the fall leaves are changing colors somewhere. They certainly aren’t doing anything here in Arizona! I’m going to channel cooler weather by creating a craft that will put me in the mood for those temperatures.

I created a wall hanging project with gorgeous fall tones from CutCardStock. Let me show you how I made it!

First, start with a leaf die cut, like this oak one from Sizzix. Cut 8 leaves in several colors. I used Pop Tone Tangy Orange, DCS Ginger Snap Brown, Lessebo Moss and Lessebo Sunflower Yellow.

Next, run the leaves through an embossing folder for texture. then take the leaves and score them down the middle.

To match up the sides, you will fold a couple of the leaves the other direction. Start with 2 opposite pieces, then match the 3rd one up to an edge, gluing down as you go.

Before you glue the final edges together, lay a piece of twine down the middle. Make sure it’s long enough for your wall hanging.

If desired, add distress ink to the edges, and some of the panels for a more rustic look. I used distressed ink in a vintage brown.

Now you’ll assemble the bow. This is the big bow die from Sizzix. I’ve cut one set in Lessebo Moss Green and one in a fall patterned paper.

Glue the two bow pieces together in an offset fashion. Glue the ends of the bow in the same way.

Then wrap the bow around and secure it in the middle with a clip. Assemble the bow together and let dry.

It’s time to put the project together! Run the twine up through the middle of the bow and tie a knot at the top. Tie another knot at the bottom of the bow.

For additional dimension, I’ve added wooden beads to the ends of the twine. I’ve also hung a wood sentiment down the edge of the twine.

This project is starting to help get me in the mood for fall! How about you? Have you started decorating? If you’re looking for an easy project, I hope you will save this on a Pinterest board for future use. Thanks for joining me today!
