Easy Autumn Door Sign Tutorial

Hello Friends, and Happy Wednesday! Misty ( @Mommyofkidz) here today sharing a fun Autumn Door Sign Tutorial. I hope you are all having a wonderful week and enjoying all the beauty of the fall season! The cooler weather finally hit us here in Texas and it feels glorious! Unfortunately, I have been working so much, I have not really had time to enjoy it! I leave home before daylight and get home after dark…but hey…I have my craft supplies, and I can sure enough create something pretty for everyone else to enjoy, right!? With a few pieces of CutCardStock and my handy dandy Cricut machine, I did just that!

Gathering My Supplies

I was shopping recently at my local craft store, and I came across some SUPER CUTE unfinished wooden signs. Not only were they on sale, but they were in the shape of a pumpkin! I couldn’t resist…I bought all they had (only 4) and started planning projects. I am excited to be sharing my first one with y’all today!
When I start a project, I always gather my supplies first. This makes the process go so much quicker than if I were to be looking for things mid project. Therefor, I decided on my card stock colors, ribbon patterns, etc. before I ever sat my booty down at my desk. For this project, I decided on only three colors of card stock. I know this is very unusual for me, but it was all I needed! Just enough to make this easy autumn door sign pack a punch! Stardream Metallic Saturn, Pop Tone ORANGE FIZZ, and Pop Tone BLUE RASPBERRY were the colors for this project. Of course, you can use any variation that you choose! Actually, some of these colors are in the Monthly Sales section in the CutCardStock store…you can stock up! Along with my card stock, I also grabbed ribbons, paint, and Mod Podge. I sat at my desk with this big ole pumpkin and set to work.

Painting my Pumpkin

I wanted this Door sign to be good for both October and November, because, let’s face it, I am lazy! It is a lot of work to change out the decorations! I wanted it to look like those Halloween candy corns boasting am autumn quote. That combination should scream “AUTUMN” for a couple of months, right? As you can see by the photos below, I painted my pumpkin to look exactly like that. Once the paint was dry, I added a ribbon to cover up the unevenness of the paint.

Adding the Quote

While the paint was drying on the pumpkin, I found the perfect cute to go in the center. I used this exact design without changing anything except for the colors. As I mentioned earlier, I used Stardream Metallic Saturn, Pop Tone ORANGE FIZZ, and Pop Tone BLUE RASPBERRY. Once it was all cut out, I used a quick drying wet glue to adhere it. Then I pulled out the Mod Podge and covered the entire pumpkin. Once the first layer dried…I did it again!! I do like to allow a wet project to sit over night, so I pout it away at this stage.

Finish it UP

WOW! I love how it was turning out, but it still needed something. I pulled out some gingham prints from my ribbon stash to match the Card Stock Colors. This was the final touch to compliment the cardstock and make it POP from the sign. Once the ribbon was added, I couldn’t wait to hang this on my front door!! I didn’t even take off the wreath, I just put it right on top. It looked fabulous!

Pay no attention to my dirty front porch, but doesn’t my door look GREAT!! I am totally in love with my sign! I do hope that I have inspired you today! Go grab some CutCardStock and get started on your own Easy Autumn Door Sign!
