Hidden Compartment Book of Halloween

Hey everybody! It’s Thursday already and I hope you’re having a great week! Leslie here with you today sharing a tutorial for making a fun Halloween-themed hidden compartment book with an SVG cut file and Cricut. I cut the pieces from Twine, Pop Tone Black Licorice, Basis Dark Orange, and Stardream Metallic Antique Gold. I love a good 3D project and this was a fun one! There are all kinds of fun goodies that can be hidden inside. 😉

Cut the Pieces

I cut the box from Twine and the spine from Pop Tone Black Licorice. Next, I cut the front and back cover from a buffalo check print in my stash. Then, I cut the frame for the inside hidden compartment from Basis Dark Orange. And finally, I cut the ‘pages’ from Stardream Metallic Antique Gold. With lots of oranges in my stash, the Basis Dark Orange was the best match for the buffalo check. However, this orange is no longer in stock but there are others that could be used instead.

Adhere the Layers

Start by adhering the three gold page layers to the twine layers; this adds to the stability. Additionally, adhere the black spine to the buffalo check front and back cover. Go ahead and fold on all the box score lines; no need to use a bone folder.

Assemble the Hidden Compartment Book

Assemble the box using liquid glue, adding the dark orange hidden compartment frame and the front flap.

Add Book Cover & Magnets

Now adhere the cover to the box, and add a couple magnets using a strong adhesive.

Complete the Hidden Compartment Book

Embellish the front and spine as desired. I used stickers, chipboard, and enamel dots.
