Mother’s Day Brag Books
Have you heard the term “brag book?” They were little albums that moms and grandmas carried in their purse to show off pictures of their kids and grandkids. In this day of technology, the smartphone replaced the brag book, but I would guess there are still people out there that would love this as a gift!

I’m taking a sassy spin on this project to give it a little update! Most moms (and grandmas!) I know are funny, spirited ladies. So I decided to give my brag book projects a bit of sass with some bright CutCardStock colors!

I picked up 2 4″ by 6″ albums from a local craft store – these are typically found in the dollar bins, just waiting to be decorated! These albums have other great uses, especially as vacation or autograph books, graduation presents, etc. Today, I’m making these for Mother’s Day.

The font I’m using is called BFC Quick Cupid and it’s in the Cricut Design Space library. I’ve typed out these in a few colors and customized my sayings to suit my recipients. Then I group the series of words together and offset them at a .25″ border.

When I went to cut these, I ended up with the following colors: Pop Tone Orange Fizz, Pop Tone Blue Raspberry, Pop Tone Lemon Drop and Pop Tone Limeade. The offset backdrop is Basis White 80lb weight. My machine cuts this paper beautifully – I do end up using a heavy card stock setting so I can be sure of a clean cut.

Next, I piece together the letters against the Basis White offset pieces, and glue them on. From here, I adhere this to a patterned yellow polka dot paper.

Now I add these to another card stock backdrop, depending on what contrasting color looks good. For these projects I used Pop Tone Orange Fizz and Pop Tone Limeade.

This is a very fast project, if you’re looking for a last minute Mother’s Day gift. It’s also very inexpensive! I use a photo service that allows me to send my prints to a local drug store, and the entire project is done in a couple hours. For fun, you could decorate the inside sleeves with title or divider pages too.

To all of the moms out there, a happy Mother’s Day – it’s coming up soon! I’d love it if you shared this project out on Pinterest for future crafting. See you next time!
