Fall Wood Decor Sign
Are you ready for these insane temperatures to start dropping and the trees to start changing colors? I know I sure am! The Texas Heat has got me begging for some reprieve! Hi Y’all! Misty (#Mommyofkidz) here today sharing a cute little DIY Fall Wood Decor Sign made with lots of CutCardStock papers! If my Cruise sign can get me imagining myself on a ship, this sign can make me feel like Fall! Down here in Texas we don’t get much of a color change, but that is quite alright with me. This Girl is crafty and I know how to improvise! I just use my handy dandy Cricut machine to cut whatever I want! In this case, I can cut some leaves out of my card stock and call it a day!
Beginning the Decor for the Sign
First things first, what colors should I use?
That didn’t take me long to decide. When I think of Autumn, I think of orange and gold in various tones. Quite honestly, the trees really don’t turn any other colors down here! HA! With that in mind, I reached for my Bright Gold Foil and Stardream Metallic COPPER. Actually, my first instinct was to grab Stardream Metallic FLAME. Instead, I quickly decided that it was TOO orange for the look I was hoping to achieve. I wanted my fall wood decor sign to have a rustic look and feel. I am addicted to Lessebo AMAZON Dark Teal, and knew that this was going to be perfect complimentary color. After deciding on what colors to use, it was time to start cutting. I began with cutting oak leaves in several sizes and colors. The filigree leaves in Bright Gold Foil made me so happy! I also cut the sentiment using Stardream Metallic ONYX … Happy Fall Y’all!

Here’s Your Wooden Sign!
Before beginning this project, I had gone to the Dollar Tree near me in search of cute things to alter. I was successful in finding several different wooden items that would make perfect DIY decor! This cute little wooden tag was just perfect for what I had in mind! I certainly didn’t want to leave it raw wood. So, I found some lighter colored woodgrain patterned paper to cover it with before adding the leaves. I also gathered some ribbon, lace, twine and flowers that I thought I would use. Covering the wooden tag was super easy with Mod Podge.

Falling Leaves on Wood
Assembly was the easiest part! I just tossed the leaves on and let them stay where they landed. No thought process involved, which made it so easy! Ultimately, I only ended up using one of those flowers in the photo above. Once it was all assembled, I was in love with the look of the autumn leaves against the wood grain. After gluing them in place, I sprayed a bit of sparkle mist over the whole thing to boost the shine.

Finally, it was time to add the ribbon, lace, twine, and flowers. I decided I wanted to keep the rustic look that I had created by adding the wood grain paper. While I did use twine and crocheted lace, I opted against the satin ribbon and most of the flowers. One singular. flower found its way to the top of the sign, sitting atop a twine bow. I found myself loving the simple elegance of the lone flower. The orange pearl center encased with gold was the perfect compliment to the Bright Gold Foil filigree leaves. With this final addition, I knew that anything more would simply be too much.
