So Sweet Layout

Hi everyone, Cassie here with you today. Do you find that you create more during the Summer months? Since I work in a school I find that I am more creative during the Summer and we are on the final countdown of the school year here. Not only am I looking forward to some nicer weather and some fun adventures, I am also looking forward to more time in my scrap room.

One of my favorite color themes for Summer is Red, White and Blue and this is the perfect month for it since it matches with the sale of Red, White and Blue cardstock this month!

Getting Started

This layout was started with the idea to create pinwheels on my page. I used my Silhouette pinwheel flower cut file with five layers. I cut my flowers from Blue Hydrangea, Indigo Blue and Astrobright Red cardstock along with two patterned papers.

I cut two sizes of flowers from each of the five pieces of paper and cardstock.  This gave me ten flowers in a mix of the papers.  Once I had them all cut out, I sorted them into stacks so I could start assembly.

Before layering them together I used the round end of my petal roller tool around the edges of each of the layers to create more dimension on the flowers.  Next, I glued the layers all together and added an enamel dot to the center.  This was the longest part of the page because it took some time to create all ten flowers.

Finishing the Page

Now that my flowers completed, I started on my background.  I grabbed a piece of the Stardream Metallic Quartz cardstock and a package of rub-ons.  I drew a circle on the background as a guide since I wanted the rub-on to be behind the circle of flowers.  Once I had the rub-ons all applied to the background I added my photo and then added the circle of flowers.

At this point I added my chipboard and acetate title right above my photo.  Next up was adding sequins around the flower circle and as a finishing touch some black ink splatters around the outside.

You can head over to the CutCardStock Store to take advantage of this month’s great sale!
