THIS Card has got the Blues!

Hello all you CutCardStock fanatics! How is the weather where you are right now? Down here in southern Texas, it is stormy, rainy, WET- and everything around me is flooding. This mess has given me the Rainy-Day BLUES, therefore, I decided to get crafty. I made a monochromatic blue card and exercised a bit of crafty therapy. Taylor Swift Sings about her moody blues…but I craft about mine! HA!
With the Stardream Metallic cardstock being on sale in the CutCardstock Store, I decided to use those! I absolutely LOVE the entire line…but those blues are to DIE for! GORGEOUSNESS! With all my materials in hand, I sat at my desk and got to work.

Crafty Therapy

Since it has been storming down here for almost a week now, I have been stuck in the house if I am not at work…which has been completely alright with me! I have gotten quite a bit of crafty therapy and even a little bit of cleaning done. For this card, I decided to revisit the roots of my obsession, um, I mean hobby. I wanted to create something that can be replicated by beginners and “old crafty pros” alike. Therefore, I limited what tools I decided to use. I used only my paper trimmer, a white and black gel pen, wet glue and a tape runner NOTHING ELSE! Hence, anyone can do this!

To begin, I cut all of the cardstock into one inch strips. I used Stardream Metallic Lapis Lazuli, Stardream Metallic Vista Blue, and Stardream Metallic Sparkly Bright White Pluto and arranged the strips into an Ombre effect. I layered the strips onto the Stardream Metallic Onyx Black Cardstock before adding to the Stardream Metallic Gatefold Card.

Assembly

After the base was assembled, it was time to move onto the next step. Despite my best efforts, I dug through my flowers, my embellishments, ephemera, old kits, literally everything, and could not come with with enough “stuff” to make this card masculine. Therefore, Feminine it is!!! I do honestly try to produce masculine crafts…it just never works out that way! Once everything was gathered, the next step was to make it pretty!

Beautiful Blues!

After deciding that I wanted the gatefold card to actually open like a gatefold, I had to cut the strip layered square in half. Once each half was in place, I began the decoration process. Flowers, Ephemera, enamel dots…yeah none of this is masculine! I wonder if my Dad would object to receiving such a pretty card for Father’s Day? LOL!!! Ha! Joking! I will try again. Since the Stardream Metallic Cardstock is on sale all month long, I can grab more…and more colors! WIN WIN!
Guess what…you can, too! Don’t wait too long, though…this cardstock is AMAZING and it will sell quickly! Go on over to the CutCardStock Store and start filling your cart!
