Monochromatic Christmas Shaker Card

Hi, y’all! It’s Laura here from Soul Shine Designs. I can’t believe that’s December already. This has been a year to remember. Today I got a monochromatic Christmas shaker card for y’all. This card is an easy flat shaker card.

Because this card is a flat shaker, it means I didn’t use foam tape to make it. I cut a piece of pattern paper and vellum to the size of an A2 card, which is 4 1/4″ x 5.5″. You can create your own or use pattern paper as I did. I used the Tonic Studios Tissue Tape, added the tape onto the pattern paper on the front, and then partially removed the backing on three. I then put it in my MISTI to help align the vellum on top.

I left the top backing on the tape so the shaker bits wouldn’t get stuck on it. But before I added shaker bits, I added the Merry Christmas on the vellum first. I used a Heidi Swapp stamp and die set that’s currently out of stock, but you can easily find something similar in your stash. I die cut the Christmas and stamped the Merry onto the Stardream Metallic Silver cardstock. The Merry is heat embossed with silver on the Stardream Metallic Silver.

I used my Spellbinders quick trimmer to trim out this little Merry sentiment. I then glued both to the vellum. After that was dried, I added the bits which were silver sequins and stars. For a flat shaker, it’s important to not use anything bulky.

Then I removed the backing on the last tape and pressed down very firmly. Next, I took my bone folder and went around and made sure the tape adhered well before I tested out the shaker. Finally, I added that panel to an A2 card base.

I love the wintery feel that greys can give, especially having the patterned paper (of a building while it was snowing). If you love this card and/or technique make sure to leave a comment and follow CutCardStock and me on social media.
