Stenciling on Metallic Cardstock

Oh how I love the Stardream Metallic cardstock! I use it in almost every project and I love finding new ways I can use it! Today, I wanted to share a card I made with stenciling ink over the metallic cardstock for a beautiful Thinking of You card.

I started with a piece of the Stardream Metallic Crystal cardstock and stamped some flowers with embossing ink. These flowers have coordinating stencils to color all of the different images and dies to cut them out! I used gold embossing powder to make the beautiful detailed lines come to life.

Once my panel was heat embossed, I put it on a sticky mat that I love to use when stenciling. You can see that I didn’t get great impressions for all of the images, but thats ok! I won’t be using all of them.

I used dye inks and small blending brushes to color my images. The ink does take a little bit longer to dry on the metallic cardstock than regular, so be sure to give it some extra time in between changing stencils.

Look how pretty! I set this aside to dry while I worked on the next part of the card.

I have these beautiful notched rectangle dies in my collection that I thought would be perfect for this card. You can use them to cut out panels, but if you use two of the cutting dies together, you can make a frame!

I chose the two sizes I wanted to make my frame, and added the stitching die in between to give a little extra interest. I made sure to tape this down because I didn’t want any of the dies shifting and giving me a wonky rectangle frame. I used the Gold Glitter cardstock for this frame.

I used some foam tape on the back of the frame to adhere the frame to the front of my A2 sized card – The front panel of this card is another piece of the Stardream Crystal cardstock. It is so pretty!

Once I had the frame on the panel, I chose two of the die cut images to adhere to the frame, added some gold pearls and a sentiment, and this card was done! I’d love to see all of your metallic creations! Tag me @purple_puppy_papercrafting on Instagram! Happy Crafting!
