Shaker card made with vellum!

Hey everybody! Happy Tuesday to you all! Are you a fan of shaker cards? I absolutely love them but don’t seem to make nearly enough of them. Leslie here, sharing a shaker card I made with vellum rather than the traditional acetate. This card features our Stardream Metallic Onyx, Stardream Metallic Eris, Stardream Metallic Azalea and Glama Natural Translucent Vellum. I also used Neenah Classic Crest 100# and 80# Solar White cardstock. I’ve never tried using vellum for a shaker card before, and have seen quite a few that look pretty cool, so I was inspired to try it! I like how it turned out and will definitely be using vellum again!

Cut Card Base & Layers

Cut a standard A2 size side-folding landscape card base and inside embellishing strip from Stardream Metallic Onyx cardstock.

Similarly, cut a front layering strip, an inside layering panel, and an inside embellishing strip from Stardream Metallic Azalea cardstock.

Also, cut a piece of Glama Natural Translucent Vellum to fit behind the sentiment aperture.

And finally, cut an inside layering panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock.

Die Cut Large Sentiment

Die cut a large sentiment into the bottom portion of the Eris panel.

Add Vellum & Foam Strips

Adhere a piece of Glama Natural Translucent Vellum behind the aperture and then apply double-sided foam strips.

Add Shaker Mix

Prior to adding the shaker mix, adhere a strip of Azalea cardstock to the bottom portion of the card base so that a muted pink shows through the shaker aperture.

Create a shaker mix (pearl glass beads, baby beads and mini prills used here) and adhere the shaker panel to the card base sealing the shaker mix inside.

Add Stamped Sentiments & Adhere Layers

Front: Stamp the remaining word for the sentiment in black ink on a Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock scrap, fussy cut it, and adhere it beneath the die cut sentiment.

Inside: Stamp the sentiment in black ink on the Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White panel. Adhere the Onyx, Eris and Azalea embellishing strips to the left side of the panel, and adhere the panel to the Azalea piece.

Complete Project

Add several iridescent gemstones to the card front, and adhere the inside panel to the card base.
