They Say It’s Your Birthday

Is it a coincidence that the VW Beetle “Bug” card has a Beatles lyric birthday stamp? Hmmm…maybe.

I purchased a pack of Wild Salmon cardstock earlier and it matched perfectly with a watercolor cactus patterned paper that is in my stash. Using my Cricut, I cut multiples of this fun VW Beetle “Bug” car. How fun is this for a birthday card?!

Before adhering all the pieces together, I used a blue glitter pen around the edges of all the Jet Stream Blue cut pieces.

And used a liquid adhesive to put them all together.

So cute!

To build the card, I cut Cougar Smooth White Cardstock for the card base at 4.25×11″; scored at the 5.5″ mark; created the first mat with the Wild Salmon cardstock at 4×5.25″ and the patterned paper at 3.75×5″. All of these layers are centered and adhered to the card base before adding the Wild Salmon scalloped mat (cut with the Cricut), another layer of the patterned paper and a Lt. Yellow frame (also cut with the Cricut). Then I used foam adhesive to the Bug for more dimension.

Cardstock colors used for this card: Wild Salmon, Black Licorice, Red Pepper, Orange Fizz, Pewter, Lt. Yellow and the back side of Jet Stream (mine is a pearl paper but I didn’t want the sheen)

There are lots of layers on this card front plus the addition of white pen highlights really pop up! The addition of the “They Say It’s Your Birthday” stamped sentiment continues the Beetle/Beatles theme. I’m probably showing my age on that one, but it’s punny to me :)!
