Do you love free SVG files? As a graphic designer, I love creating SVG files and I will be sharing projects and free SVG files with you.

Hi, I am Janet from Try it – Like it – Create it and I have Christmas Tree cut file to share with the Cut Cardstock design team.

This month CutCardstock challenged us to work from a mood board. This is only the second time I have done so, although I have seen many of them on the internet.

The above group of images was the mood board we were presented with. I was working on an SVG file for a light-up Christmas Tree and decided to continue on with my plans but to alter the color to red so they would relate to the theme. Notice the polka dots on the mugs? They relate to the circles/ornaments on my trees.

The materials used for the trees are very simple. The cut SVG file, tissue paper, and adhesive.

I cut the tree SVGs out of Habanero Cover Weight.

Here is an example of one of the trees with a battery operated tea light inside. Even though the tissue paper was red, the yellow of the light overpowers the color and shines through the ornament/circle openings.

Hi, I am Janet. I am married to my husband Dan and we have two teenaged girls. Nowadays I work from home. I have always loved to create. As a child, one of my favorite things to do was talk my mom into a trip to the craft store. I took my love of art and craft and studied Graphic Design in college. Then I pursued an MFA in Graphic Design and an MS in New Media. I left a prosperous career as a college professor to raise our girls. Looking for a creative outlet, I started a website; Try it - Like it - Create it
