Poinsettia Wreath | Rae

Hi! Raechelle here sharing my project for the Holiday Countdown Special. Christmas is in the air. Have you begun your holiday decorating yet? I love poinsettias, however I have two curious cats and a mischievous dog who would be all over a real one, so to be safe I opted to make a simple wreath created with cardstock flowers instead.

This is loosely based upon this inspirational image the design team was given as a jump off point:

I used the following cardstock colors from the CutCardStock store: Basis OliveRoyal Sundance Brilliant White Felt Card Stock, Habanero Canvas Textured Card Stock, Stardream Metallic Gold Card Stock, and Bonsai Canvas Textured Card Stock. (Poinsettia from the Silhouette store.)

I cut three different sizes of the poinsettia flowers; 2 in red (5 large and 7 medium), and some smaller ones in white.

The wreath base is an inexpensive wire one that was purchased at a local big box store.

Once the flowers were assembled, I added some black enamel drops to the white poinsettias and allowed to try.

Adhere poinsettias to wreath base using a strong adhesive glue, starting by placing the largest first and then filling in with the others. Leave some time for them to dry firmly onto the wreath base as you are filling so they can adhere properly and not slide off.

Here are a couple of detail images:

That’s it! Stay tuned for more Holiday inspiration in the comping days. If you’ve missed any days, please be sure to go back and check out what the talented ladies on the team have created.
