Creating Memories

There’s nothing better than being with family and creating memories with them. The next best thing, is preserving those memories, making those moments timeless and special. I created this layout with the idea of being monochromatic Teal with pops of Silver, As it progressed, I wanted that white background so those colors would really pop off the page. Here’s how I pulled this layout together!
I started off with a sheet of 12×12 Cougar White Cardstock. I started with some Vicki Boutin Silver CreativeFX Glaze, watered it down to make it able to flow, so I could splatter it onto the cardstock. I kept it all going Horizontal across the page, trying to focus on the outside, knowing my pictures were going in the middle.
I allowed the silver to dry a few minutes before adding Vicki Boutin Prism Glaze, the same way as I did the silver, that way they didn’t combine too much, that you lost the silver. I added water to glaze, and using a paint brush, splattered the same line as the silver. This needs to completely dry before anything can be added to prevent smudging the glaze and having it look messy.
For the triangles, I used a second sheet of the Cougar White Cardstock, I drew a line through the middle, and lines from that center line, up to the top, leaving about 1 1/2 inches on both sides. Cut them out using a ruler and a craft knife.
I used Light Teal Cardstock, Basis Aqua, Teal, Pop-Tone Blue Raspberry, POW Silver Glitter Cardstock, and Curious Metallic White Silver Cardstock. I cut them into 1/2 inch stripes, I cut about 12 of each colors, way more than was needed, but I wanted to make sure I had enough, I don’t like having to go back, and the extras can be used on something else.
I used a tool to roughen the edges of each strip before adhering it to the triangle. I used Score-Tape to this, on strip across worked great. Once I had all the strips on, using the edging tool, I roughed up the all the edges, popping up the 3 side just little, adds a little dimension and also, it gave me the idea of adding the stitching!
Using a teal thread, I stitched a simple back-stitch on 2 of the 3 sides on both triangles. Once those were finished, using Score-tape again, attached the triangles to the, now dry, background. Once that was done, I added stitching along the top and bottom edges of those triangles, using White thread and a ladder stitch. I love the pop of white on those.
With all this stitching finished, I focused on my pictures. Using the Teal Cardstock, POW Silver Glitter Cardstock, and Pop-Tone Blue Raspberry Cardstock, I backed my photos, and attached them with score-tape in an off center, overlapping, with the middle picture more centered.
With the photos attached, I added my title. Part of it on top of a photo, but not taking away from what the photo focused on. I added Flair from the Smile Collection at ScrappinHappy Studio, using foam adhesive. Added some beautiful Paper flowers and Butterflies from Rosies Studio. I used some Silver Alphas from Darice, Finishing this layout off with some SpiegelmomScraps Sequins, and Nuvo Drops.

I love how this turned out. I love the Silver Glitter and metallic Silver, how they broke up the Aquas and Teals. Silver is a great way to break up color, and the glitter and metallic effects just make them pop right out.
I hope you enjoyed this, and that it maybe inspired you to pull out the silver and make your layouts pop out.
Happy Scrapping!
