Look for the Light in the Darkness

A lot has been going on in the world right that is affecting everyone’s life on a global scale. We need to look for the rays of light. Today I’m showing how I put together this layout.

This wedding was canceled, but this adorable couple didn’t let that stop them. They went ahead and had their wedding, with just their families. Looking for the light in the darkness.

I started with this adorable hearts cut file, I got from a monthly Kit Subscription, along with these exclusive sequins created by SpiegelMom Scraps for the collection I’m using from Cocoa Vanilla Studio called Unforgettable.

I knew I wanted some of the hearts to have the sequins in them, but not wanting them to cover up the patterned paper. So I pulled out my Fuse tool.

Using the Fuse Tool, I created little clear sequin shakers. I only did 2 of them, cause I wanted to back a few of these as well as knowing a number of them would be covered by my photos and embellishments.

After choosing my background, I thought it needed just a little bit something extra, so I used some Nuvo Mica Mist in French Rose, and not as a mist, but as some splatters across the page.

I played around with the cut file VS the splatters on my paper. I didn’t want the splatters to be covered up or to be absorbed into the little shakers. Where they are here, they would be covered up almost completely, so I flipped it upside down, putting those splatters in a space they would look best.

I cut some strips of patterned paper as well as some of my favorite Curious Metallic Pink Quartz, and Mirrisparkle Pink Sapphire Glitter. I used these to layer behind my photos to add a beautiful color palette for this layout.

I used some of the Mirrisparkle Pink Sapphire Glitter Cardstock to back a few of the hearts in my cut file as well. Every wedding should Sparkle! For my photos, I used some Pop-Tone Black Licorice to back them. The black adds some dimension as well as making those pictures stand out against all those colors that will be behind it.

I added those strips of paper, got my photos where I wanted them, and started with my embellishments and my title. I used the black title to help blend the back backing on the pictures, as well as some additional hearts. I used a sheet of patterned paper from the same collection and fussy cut some of the watercolor flowers to use.

I enhanced these little clusters with some Resin roses that matched almost too perfectly with this collection, along with some sweet sentiments that went well with the occasion. Added a small journal-ling area, just enough to add their names and the date.

The final piece to this layout was some matching Nuvo Drops. I used Aquatic Mist Glitter Drops, Metallic-Shimmering Rose Crystal Drops, and Metallic-Rhubarb Crumble Crystal Drops. I used the glitter drop on one of the hearts of the cut file, that went around part of the title, to add just a little bit of extra sparkle to the title.

Creating this layout made me happy. The colors, the glitter, the sequins, all came together and pulled this special page together. I was not able to attend their wedding, but I was sent gorgeous photos. It gives hope for such an uncertain time we find ourselves in.

I am looking forward to finally celebrating with them, hopefully soon! Hope you found some inspiration!

Go Scrap!

XOXO, Melly!
