Snack Attack: Batch making Bright Birthday Cards
Hi this is Sweta and I am so excited to share my latest batch of birthday cards with you today! When school starts back up in the fall, the birthday party invitations come rolling in right away. Kids have so many classroom celebrations on their calendars, so having a set of fun, playful cards ready to go in your stash is an absolute lifesaver. For this design, I wanted to create a trio of high-energy, snack-themed cards that are bold, colorful, and super easy to batch.
When you are creating inlaid backgrounds and die-cut elements, choosing paper with rich textures and striking colors makes a big impact. Consequently, I pulled a vibrant collection of card stocks directly from CutCardStock to assemble this trio. I selected Classic CREST Smooth 130 lb for our sturdy card bases and assembly panels. For the dynamic blue waves, I combined DCS Pearlized Textured Jet Stream Blue, DCS Pearlized Textured Splash Blue, and DCS Blue Calico. Furthermore, I brought in DCS Red Pepper and Astrobright Solar Yellow for the snack bags, crispy chips, and bold background mats.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Die Cutting the Tri-Color Wavy Panels
To begin, I cut out my wavy background panels using the Hero Arts Wavy Lines Dies. Specifically, I ran the die through my machine with each of our three blues: Jet Stream Blue, Splash Blue, and Blue Calico. Because we cut three full panels from three contrasting card stocks, this technique gives us enough puzzle pieces to assemble three complete card backgrounds with zero wasted paper!

2. Assembling the Inlaid Backgrounds
Next, I assembled the interlocking blue waves onto an A2 panel of Classic CREST Smooth Solar White cardstock. I used a combination of Bearly Art liquid glue and a strong tape runner to lock each alternating wavy strip in place. Working directly over a flat backing sheet makes it easy to piece together the entire puzzle. Afterward, I used my paper trimmer to square off the edges and cleanly cut away any slight overhanging cardstock.

3. Cutting the Snack Bags & Crisps
Once the waves were complete, I moved on to the Hero Arts Snack Attack Dies. I cut the outer snack bag frame three times from DCS Red Pepper cardstock. Next, I cut the center bag panels along with a big batch of crisps from Astrobright Solar Yellow cardstock. The bright red and yellow pairing creates that classic, craveable potato chip bag look right away!

4. Adding Depth with Stencils and Inking
To give our flat die cuts extra dimension, I brought out the coordinating Snack Attack Layering Stencils. I gently ink-blended Lumberjack Plaid Distress Ink along the edges of the red snack bags to create soft shadow lines. Furthermore, I used a light touch of ink to add realistic toasted color to the edges of the yellow crisps. Before assembling the bags, I stamped the playful sentiment “Stay Salty” directly onto the front using crisp black ink.

5. Final Assembly
For the last step, I assembled the layered snack bags and adhered the golden crisps tumbling out using Bearly Art liquid glue. Next, I matted the pieced wavy backgrounds onto thin accent borders of Red Pepper and Solar Yellow cardstock. Finally, I mounted each completed panel onto an A2 card base made from Classic CREST Smooth Solar White 130 lb. These cards came together so quickly, and having a ready-to-go stash makes handling the busy party season completely stress-free!
