Coffee Lover Cut Outs
I saw the cutest gift cards at Starbucks and immediately knew I was going to use them in a craft! They have the most adorable ideas and shapes. Hi, it’s Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) and I’ve got a quick last minute Valentine idea for you. Or, use this year round for your friends and family! We’ll make coffee cup cutouts that you can use on multiple gift ideas using CutCardStock papers.

This idea doesn’t require a lot of supplies. Start with 2 cuts made from the Lessebo Blossom Pink cardstock. I’ve used die cuts from my stash and these are A2 card size. Next, grab your favorite markers and begin drawing horizontal lines on the cup in one color. Then draw vertical lines with the same color. I’ve used a rose pink and I’ve made these lines fat by using the side of the marker.

Choose a coordinating color and draw a thinner line on the right side of each line you’ve drawn. I’ve used a medium gray. It’s important to stay on the same side so you don’t mess up your pattern.

Now, take a black gel pen and draw squiggly lines in the same pattern, again staying on the same side as you draw. Don’t worry about any of these lines being even. This is what gives your plaid a natural look.

Take the lid die cut and cut out 2 shapes in Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. My die cut is layered so assemble these as necessary. Take a light gray marker and add highlights around the edges.

From here, cut out 2 cup sleeves with Lessebo Granite Gray. Highlight the corners with a white gel pen by making dots, about 4 in each corner. Highlights are key to giving your project dimension!

Finally, remove your gift card from the backing and add additional runner tape to the back. Make sure you add enough so the gift card will be secure. AND…don’t forget to tell your recipient that it is a gift card so it doesn’t get lost!

Now you can decide how to use the cutouts! I intentionally left these alone because I might decide to use one as a tag and make one a card. Other options are placing these on your familly placesettings for when your recipient wakes up or add it to the front of a gift bag.

I love last minute ideas because I often procrastinate with gifts for holidays. So many options – make sure you check out the variety of colors to fit your project on the CutCardStock website this month. Cheers!
