Photo Ornament Shaker Tags

Decorating for the holidays brings back so many memories! I love to see ornaments my kids made over the years, especially with a handprint or photo on it. This project reminds me of those ornaments. If you have a box of photos you’re hoping to use or want to personalize a gift, this ornament tag is the perfect thing to try.

The project base is a series of circles. Nesting dies are perfect if you have them, or cut the shapes from a machine like a Cricut instead. I used a 4”, 3.5”, 3” and 2.5” die and cut the following: a base in Stardream Metallic Vista Blue, a ring from the 3.5” and 2.5” circles in Stardream Metallic Pluto as well as a piece of adhesive foam, and a 3” circle in a piece of acetate.

On one side of the Stardream Metallic Vista Blue base, I adhered the foam ring and filled the middle with a coordinating confetti of blue and silver. Then, I glued the acetate to the Stardream Metallic Pluto ring and attached to the top. One great tip – I recycle the back packaging from my stamp purchases instead of buying acetate sheets. There’s less static electricity using those!

With the 3” circle, I cut out a photo I wanted, then adhered it to the opposite side of my tag. I took another ring of Stardream Metallic Pluto and attached it as a border. Then, I found different embellishments to coordinate with the color scheme and added them to the edges.

The front of the ornament I added a letter sticker with the main family initial. Another idea is to add the date at the bottom of the ornament so you can remember what year it comes from. If it’s a gift, a name of the recipient is also a cute option too!

I hope you enjoyed this holiday inspiration – don’t forget to pin any ideas you see here on the blog to Pinterest too! Cheers!
