Valentine Rosette Decor Piece

For me, my decor for holiday’s has remained traditional with some fun new colors thrown in. Not so for Valentine’s Day! Hi, it’s Patty and I am going to make a traditional Valentine Decor piece inspired by something I saw in a vintage photo. The colors are the very traditional red, white and pink and the look is a retro Valentine Rosette Decor piece.

Supplies

Getting Started

First, I cut all of the lengths of rosettes out. I used three lengths for the largest rosette’s and two lengths for the middle. The patterned paper is from Pixi Dust Designs. It is important to cut the pattern out in the same direction for each length. This allows continuity through out the rosette.

Once I had all of the lengths cut out, I folded each one along the score lines, like an accordion. Give the folded lengths a nice crease with a bone folder.

Next, I adhered the ends of the folded lengths together, to form a long strip. Once the glue was dry, I glued each end together to form a circle. I did this for all of the rosettes.

Next Steps

To help the rosettes keep their shape, I die cut four two inch circles out of scrap cardstock. Next, I grabbed my heated up Hot Glue Gun and made a large circle of glue on the die cut. Then, I added my rosette to the hot glue and held it there for a minute or so. That helped the rosette to maintain its shape. I did this for all four rosettes.

Finishing Up

To finish my project, I glued the red rosette to its heart rosette base. Then, I glued the small rosette to the striped rosette base. Next, I added a landing space decor piece to cover the hole in the rosette center. I added my embellishments to the top of the landing piece. To hang the rosettes, I adhered ribbon to the back.

I made two rosette’s. Here is the second one.

Take Care,

Patty
