Time Flies When You’re Crafting

The new year is approaching at warp speed! It’s the perfect time to reflect on the past year and look forward to what lies ahead. Birgit here with you today with a beautiful easel card, representing how quickly time flies, especially when you’re crafting.

The Supplies:

For today’s card, I used the following supplies: #83 Lessebo Taupe, Bright Foil Gold, #80 DCS Granny Smith Green, #65 Pop-Tone Sour Apple Green, #83 Lessebo Blossom Pink, #80 Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, as well as dies from my stash. Let’s get started.

Making the Card Base:

To begin with, I made the easel card base by cutting the #80 Neenah Solar White cardstock to measure 11″ x 4 1/4″. I then scored the cardstock on the short side at 2 1/8″ and 5 1/2″, and folded the scored lines. Your card base should look like a mountain.

Next, I covered the front of the card base with printed paper from my stash.

Die Cutting:

Setting the card base aside, I went ahead and die cut all the elements for my card. The clock face is cut out of Bright Foil Gold, while the flowers were cut from Lessebo Blossom Pink. I took a diversion as you’ll see in upcoming photo’s, as I did not use the ivory colored die cuts for this project. I also cut leaves out of Pop-Tone Sour Apple Green and DCS Granny Smith Green.

To add color to the flowers, I brushed on some Distress Oxide Inks to the flowers and the flower centers and glued them together using Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Returning back to the card base, I taped a circle die that is the same diameter of the clock face die, to the front of the card.

I placed the cutting plate over just the top half of the circle, since I only wanted the top cut.

Assembling the Card:

To assemble the card, I started by gluing the clock face to the center of the card front, lining up the clock face with the die cut circle.

Next, I glued the leaves on each side of the clock face, leaving space between them for the Goldfinch focal point. I also cut baby’s breath out of Lessebo Taupe and Neenas CC Solar White.

After adhering the Goldfinch with Double Sided Foam Adhesive Circles, I nestled the flowers in, tucking them under the goldfinch.

To finish the card off, I added some yellow Stickles to the center of each flower and a bit on the goldfinch to add some sparkle.

The Completed Card:

Here is a picture of the completed card when it’s closed. It is beautiful as well as elegant.

And here’s a picture of the completed card when opened. As you can see, I added the same background paper to the inside of the card. I cut a scalloped square out of Lessebo Blossom Pink and lightly lifted the scallops, making it easy for the easel card to stand.

This card turned out so lovely, and would work great as a New Year’s card or to celebrate any special occasion.
